Real CLADSMAN project / Axon cladding / Melbourne
Axon is all about the line.
Axon is a pre-primed fibre cement cladding with vertical grooves built into each sheet. The visual result depends on more than fixing panels to a wall: the set-out, sheet joints, openings, corners and horizontal junctions all need to read as one deliberate elevation.
CLADSMAN installs Axon for new homes, upper-storey additions, extensions, gables and architectural feature areas across Melbourne. We work from the plans and current installation requirements, then resolve the lines around the real building in front of us.

Considered junctions.
These are completed CLADSMAN installations, not product renders. The close views show where Axon work earns its finish: groove alignment, window margins, corners, returns and transitions into the surrounding facade.
The CLADSMAN approachWe set the facade out from the lines that matter, then carry that logic through every opening and junction.
Precision in every line.
A premium Axon facade comes from disciplined preparation and consistent detailing. Our installation scope is shaped around the project documentation, substrate and junctions on site.
Set-out and groove continuity
Sheet positions are planned so the vertical rhythm remains consistent through the elevation and avoids awkward slivers at key edges.
Openings and reveals
Windows and doors are detailed with straight margins, considered returns and clean transitions into flashings and adjacent finishes.
Corners and junctions
External corners, control joints, soffits, masonry interfaces and material changes are coordinated so the facade reads clearly.
Paint-ready finish
Panels and trims are left clean and ready for the specified coating system, with the installed geometry doing the visual work.
Vertical grooves that lift and define the elevation.
Used across an upper level, James Hardie Axon Cladding introduces a disciplined rhythm of vertical grooves that helps the home read taller and breaks up a broad facade without adding visual clutter. Here, Axon is paired with James Hardie Fine Texture Cladding at ground level, giving the elevation two distinct textures within one restrained, cohesive palette.

Seen from every angle.
Axon earns its finish across the whole elevation: long runs, window openings and changes into neighbouring materials. These views show how the vertical rhythm remains clear as the facade moves through light, depth and detail.
Lines held through the opening.
The vertical groove rhythm continues around tall glazing, with measured margins and deliberate junctions into the brickwork and dark trims.
A measured vertical cadence.
Across a broad upper-storey wall, Axon's repeating grooves add height and definition while keeping the architecture calm.
Contrast without visual noise.
Axon sits comfortably beside recycled brick and darker architectural elements when each edge and change in plane is carefully resolved.
Planning an Axon project?
What is James Hardie Axon cladding?
Axon is a vertically grooved fibre cement sheet cladding. It creates a clean linear facade and is available in smooth and grained profiles. Sheets are supplied pre-primed for an appropriate exterior paint system.
Which Axon groove spacing can you install?
We install the Axon profile specified for the project, including smooth 133 mm, smooth 400 mm and 133 mm grained options. We confirm the exact product, sheet layout and current installation requirements before work begins.
Can Axon be used for an upper-storey addition or extension?
Yes, Axon is often specified for upper storeys, extensions, gables and contemporary external walls. The framing, wall system, clearances, weatherproofing and junction details still need to suit the particular building.
Can CLADSMAN install the wrap, battens and trims as well?
Depending on the project scope, our installation work can include wall wrap, battens or cavity components, cladding sheets, external and internal corners, trims, gables, returns and junction detailing.
What should I send for an Axon installation quote?
Send the project address, plans and elevations if available, the Axon profile or material schedule, expected timing and any current site photos. For existing homes, photos of access and the surfaces being clad are especially useful.
